Temporary Accommodation

On Your Arrival in Padova
When you arrive in Padova go to the SASSA office to
- For the students who have been assigned to ESU placements: sign the contract and receiving the magnetic card; for those who do not have a place yet: receiving aid to find a room.
- fill in the necessary forms to enroll at University as a LLP/Erasmus student also in case you don’t ask for SASSA help
When you’ll arrive at Sassa Service you’ll receive
a blue folder with all the documents you need and an appointment

In case you need photos you can take 4 or 6 pictures at a low
price (about 5/6 €) at automatic boxes. These boxes
are available at the Railway station as well as in several
supermarkets, malls etc.
If you are in urgent need of hospital care, go directly
to the nearest hospital, to Pronto Soccorso (Emergency Ward),
taking your European Health Insurance Card with you.
Students
can also obtain medical assistance going directly in one
of Doctor’s Office in Padova with the EU Health Insurance

In many cases, students are asked to sign a contract by owners
of private apartments. In this case it is necessary to have
a tax code (also needed for purchase agreements, for opening
a bank account etc.). It is simple to obtain one. Just take
an official form of identification to:

Bureaucracy: enrollment at university and permit of
stay
On arriving in our office, as well as receiving information about accommodation, help will be given with putting documents together and filling in forms to register at the University of Padua and to get the residence permit issued by the Questura (Police Headquarter).
EU students
Students coming from European Union member states need:
- 2 passport-size photos;
- Erasmus Declaration: a declaration from the student’s home university stating the student’s LLP/Erasmus (or other official exchange) status and length of stay;
- A photocopy of an identity document (passport or identity card, not driving licence!) which must be valid for the full length of stay in Italy;
- European health insurance: a photocopy of the EHIC card (European Health Insurance Card) or the original copy of any private insurance policy, stating also beginning and expiring of insurance terms.
Non EU students
Students from non-EU countries need:
- 4 passport-size photos;
- A declaration from the student’s home university stating the student’s LLP/Erasmus (or other official exchange) status and length of stay;
- Photocopy of passport valid for the full length of stay
in Italy;
- Photocopy of entry visa to Italy for
study reasons, VISA compulsory
for any length of stay;
- Photocopy of private insurance authenticated by the Italian Consulate or Embassy in your home country and accompanied by a translation in one of the languages currently accepted by the Questura (Italian, English, French, German, and Spanish). Only a translation of the parts of the insurance that concern the Italian health authority is necessary.
Without this insurance and its translation the residence permit cannot be issued.
Only for ERASMUS Mundus Students
